London & Oxford

Back in November, my Dad told me he was attending an event in London, so I told him to get a room with two beds because I was booking a flight to meet him there.

It worked out that I arrived in London a few days before my dad, which meant I needed a place to stay on my own for the first few nights. Rather than hang around there the whole time, I decided that right after landing, I’d hop on a train to somewhere.

Oxford

To decide where I’d go, I opened the Maps app and scrolled around until I found a place I’d heard of and thought sounded interesting. Eventually, I landed on Oxford, bought a train ticket, and that was that.

I took the short ride out and spent the next two days wandering around the city with no real plan, walking, stopping when something caught my eye, and letting the place do its thing.

I spent two nights there, then headed back into London to meet my Dad.

London

This trip was my first time in London where it was the destination, not just a long layover. I met up with my Dad at St. Pancras Station, where he arrived on a train from Lausanne via Paris. We walked a lot, ate well, and bounced between the classic touristy things and random wandering.

I ended up attending a few of the parties, dinners, and related events being thrown alongside the main event. Outside of those, I spent most of my time working my way around the city. And, being me, I made a point to visit every Apple Store. They were fantastic. I’ll share those photos another time.
